The New York Jets pulled to within a game of the first-place Patriots after defeating New England 30-27 in overtime on Sunday thanks to a bizarre, new rule.
Jets kicker Nick Folk kicked a 56-yard field goal in overtime that sailed wide. However, the Jets received a last-second pardon when Patriots rookie Chris Jones was called for unsportsmanlike conduct after pushing a teammate into an opposing lineman.
The penalty, which appeared to be non-essential to the play, gave New York another opportunity to win the game.
Moments later, Folk nailed a 42-yard field goal for the win.
The Jets deserved to win…BUT, that call will be widely discussed for the next 24 hours.

There’s nothing “bizarre” about this. The rule is pretty clear..You can’t use a guy as a battering ram, which is exactly what this guy did, and what he clearly intended to do.
