Tonight marks the regular season debut of Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, the new home of the San Francisco 49ers.
Despite a promise reportedly given to the team in 2012, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will reportedly not attend tonight’s Chicago/San Francisco Sunday night tilt.
Presumably, the decision is based on Goodell’s alarming low popularity around the country following one of the worst weeks in NFL history.
Goodell will be in a luxury suite near you at some point this season but until this Ray Rice mess blows over (which may be awhile) and the Adrian Peterson situation reaches a resolution, it’s probably best Uncle Roger stay at home to sip on Pinot Grigio and eat some popcorn.
