Marcus Mariota debuted on Friday night against the Atlanta Falcons during a 31-24 Titans loss in the Georgia Dome.
Mariota completed 7 of 8 passes for 94 yards and an interception. The dreadful pick by Atlanta’s Justin Durant marked the first of two turnovers for the rookie quarterback.
Following Durant’s interception, Mariota fumbled on the following possession which was promptly picked up and returned for a score by Atlanta’s Paul Worrilow.
The number two overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft managed to lead his team to a scoring drive after the early struggles.
In his first taste of live NFL action, the game looked a bit too fast for Mariota. That’s to be expected to a degree in his initial NFL efforts.
Next up for Mariota and the Titans will be the St. Louis Rams on August 23 when the rookie quarterback makes his home debut.
