As poorly as the destitute, downtrodden 2015 version of Peyton Manning played last season, another year of him is a far better idea than what Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller is proposing.
Miller recently expressed a desire for his fellow Texas A&M Aggie and apparent roommate to become a member of the Denver Broncos.
“If I had to make my decision on it, he would already be on the Broncos,” Miller said Friday. “But we’ve got guys in the front office that make those decisions, and they put us in championships with those decisions.
“So I’m just going to follow those guys and have those guys take the lead.”
I sort of understand Miller’s perspective here. He wants to look after his friend. However, as Bob Sugar told us during the film Jerry Maguire, it’s not “show friends”, it’s “show business.”
Manziel hasn’t shown anything during his time on the field to make you believe he can lead the defending Super Bowl champions to anything remotely resembling a repeat.
Meanwhile, Denver’s quarterback situation is prompting Miller’s personnel suggestions. At the moment, it’s the Wonderful Adventures of Mark Sanchez. Unfortunately, that will be a scary proposition should it take place.
While Manziel wants to be a Bronco, I can’t imagine the stately John Elway breaking down and signing him unless he has exhausted every option.
