After the Associated Press released its NFL All-Pro team on Friday, it may appear Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan will win his first MVP award in a couple of weeks.
Ryan was named first team All-Pro quarterback, beating out Patriots quarterback Tom Brady for the honor.
Meanwhile, the four-time Super Bowl winner received second team honors.
Ryan posted a career-year by throwing 38 touchdowns and compiling 4,944 yards while only tossing seven interceptions. His 117.1 passer rating in 2016 ranks fifth-best all-time.
Since the regular season’s conclusion, there has been some hand-wringing over who should win the MVP. Most of the discussion trends around Ryan, Brady, and Aaron Rodgers.
However, it’s hard to imagine a world where the first-team All-Pro quarterback loses the MVP race to the runner-up and a dude he beat in the regular season.
