Ahead of Wednesday’s free agency start, numerous media outlets are reporting that Case Keenum is on his way to the Mile High City.
Keenum, who resurrected the Minnesota Vikings and their Super Bowl hopes a season ago, will officially join the Denver Broncos on Wednesday via free agency. Financial terms on the deal have not been reported yet.
Last season, Keenum enjoyed a dream season with the Vikings. He completed 67 percent of his passes and threw for 22 touchdowns in 14 regular season games as a starter. He led the Vikings to the NFC Championship and delivered one of the great wins in NFL playoff history against the New Orleans Saints in the divisional round a week prior.
The journeyman starter crash landed in a 38-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship game.
His departure from Minnesota leaves the cupboard potentially bare for the Vikings, who could lose quarterbacks Teddy Bridgewater and Sam Bradford through free agency as well.
Keenum’s arrival to Denver means Kirk Cousins, who appeared to be the primary focus of John Elway and company, will be landing elsewhere.
