Short of losing a game to Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2, nearly everything has gone right for defending Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles over the past year…until Sunday afternoon.
The Philadelphia Eagles reached the playoffs after a 24-0 drubbing of the Washington Redskins and the Bears embarrassing the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
However, Philly’s win didn’t come without some drama for Foles. He suffered bruised ribs late in the game and did not return. While the Eagles had the game, Foles did experience defeat…in his bank account.
A clause in Foles’s contract stated that he would receive a $1 million bonus if he played in 33% of the team’s snaps. He missed it by four snaps thanks to the injury.
Foles, who has obviously been living a charmed life up until that $1 million rib injury, said on Monday he expects to be in the lineup when the Eagles and Bears meet during the NFC wild card round on Sunday.
Ah, rich people problems.
