Antonio Brown Reportedly Requested A Trade & Twitter Flirted With George Kittle

The Pittsburgh Steelers were rarely a locker room of tranquility over the past couple of seasons. The latest news of discord comes from Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown, who reportedly wants to be traded out of Pittsburgh.

Following a backbreaking loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 16, numerous sources reported that Brown got into it with a teammate (or Ben Roethlisberger, depending on who you want to believe) last Wednesday and it eventually all led to him not playing in Pittsburgh’s 16-13 season-finale win over Cincinnati.

Prior to the Cincinnati game, the Steelers claimed that Brown had a knee injury. Now, that claim might eventually be under investigation following the leak of his issues earlier last week.

Seemingly on cue, Brown threw gasoline on the fire on New Year’s Eve in a Twitter exchange with San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle:

Kittle wanting Brown to join the 49ers makes sense from San Francisco’s perspective. Their best receiver is Kittles, which is not ideal for a team that sunk a lot of money into quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

Allegedly, Brown’s issues stem from problems with Roethlisberger and Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin. Whether that leads to a trade with anyone including the 49ers, remains to be seen.

Yet, one thing is apparent. The Steelers can’t keep going from one distraction to the other. It’s evident that they need to do something. While trading Brown isn’t ideal, they can’t continue to let the players run the show.
