One day removed from the Kansas City Chiefs rallying to defeat the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV on Sunday, the oddsmakers wasted little time putting the champs back at the top spot.

According to Caesars Sportsbook and FanDuel, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are favored to repeat as Super Bowl champions as they are expected to return with most of the key members from the first team to win Kansas City a Vince Lombardi Trophy since 1970.

Kansas City enters next season as 6/1 favorites to repeat as Super Bowl champions -besting only the Baltimore Ravens, who are considered 7/1 favorites.

Meanwhile, the San Francisco 49ers are favored to return to the Super Bowl by the same oddsmakers. However, the Niners are a 9/1 choice to win it all.

While oddsmakers are gushing over both Super Bowl participants, history says the chances of one or both teams reaching Super Sunday next year are far from great.

No team has repeated as Super Bowl champions since the 2003-04 New England Patriots pulled the trick.

As for the 49ers, a return trip to the Super Bowl would make them the first repeat NFC participant since the ’13-’14 Seattle Seahawks. Since the 1990 season, only the ’92-’93 Cowboys, ’96-’97 Packers, and the aforementioned Seahawks, are the only repeat NFC winners.
