This is the third nominee in our set of 20 that are eligible for the JMRA Hall of Fame. The five biggest vote getters will be inducted into the Hall along with the Editor’s Choice award winner. The JMRA Hall of Fame honors contributors to the National Football League; and/or an individual/group who enlightened society (most notably the website) through football or other means.
Well, considering the rather low self-esteem of Cowboys fans after Sunday night, I figured now was the time to do something nice for them.
Here they are Cowboys Nation/Universe/Epicenter/Blogosphere. The men who put bread on your table during the early 90s are up for induction into the JMRA Hall of Fame.
Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, and Michael Irvin (aka The Triplets) beat up NFL defenses in the 90s to the tune of three Super Bowls.
Not only did they thrive on the field but off as well.
Smith went on to win a season of ABC’s Dancing With The Stars; Irvin is a TV analyst for the NFL Network and previously of ESPN; and Troy Aikman is the lead analyst on FOX’s NFL coverage.
Most importantly though, they tortured numerous fan bases (Eagles, Redskins, 49ers and Bills to name a few) and ultimately wrestled the mantle away from the San Francisco 49ers as the NFL’s preeminent dynasty in the 1990s.
