Mike Lombardi of the NFL Network reports that Jerry Jones has tabbed Jason Garrett as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.
Garrett, who is the interim head coach, has led Dallas to a 4-3 mark since taking over for the departed Wade Phillips.
During the process, Jones complied with the “Rooney Rule” and interviewed receivers coach Ray Sherman (ok, you can stop cackling now).
Such a rule dictates that a team must interview a minority candidate for its head coaching position.
It’s somewhat surprising that Jones did not talk to Jon Gruden or some of the other available names.
Jones thinks he has his man though.
