Tim Tebow Is The Fourth Best Quarterback In Denver

The rise and fall of Tim Tebow is quickly becoming one of the more compelling stories during the preseason.

After being selected in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos, it appeared that then-head coach Josh McDaniels was grooming the Florida Gator to potentially be the man.

A head coaching change later, NFL common sense appears to have prevailed. Broncos head honcho John Fox named Kyle Orton his starter when Denver faces Oakland in Week 1.

Life as a second-stringer can’t be that bad, right?

Well, Tebow tumbled down the Denver depth chart to third behind another former first-round pick, Brady Quinn.

Beating out Quinn should be a snap for Tebow, no? After all, Quinn won only three of 12 starts as a Cleveland Brown and has produced a largely ineffective body of work as a quarterback.

Well, it appears Tebow is in bigger trouble than anyone could have imagined.

Earlier this week, reports surfaced that a trade involving Tebow may materialize or the Broncos could opt to cut him.

Meanwhile, Michael Silver of Yahoo Sports wrote a piece on Tuesday suggesting that there is a contingent in the Denver camp that believes Tebow is the fourth best quarterback in camp.

Who is outshining Tebow?

Adam Weber, an undrafted free agent rookie out of Minnesota has caught the eye of some in camp.

Not to fret Tebow supporters.

The team just cut him a check for $6.7 million of guaranteed money as a part of his rookie deal and it’s hard to imagine the Broncos finding a trade partner at this point during the preseason.

However, it appears the Tebow experiment is coming to a screeching halt. Sure, he might get the occasional red zone touch as a running threat at quarterback but that is of little regard.

Tebow wants to be the starting quarterback of the Denver Broncos; not a project who is used in variations of the wildcat formation.

Unfortunately for him though, it appears he may have to settle for the latter.

  1. This is all Elway’s doing. He hasn’t liked Tebow from the start. They haven’t really given him a REAL chance to settle in! He is able to score in the air and on the ground. He’s the greatest college player in the history of college football. Give him a REAL chance for God’s sake! This is sooooo irritating! I hope it isn’t true. This team needs a true leader. Tebow is a proven leader that has more heart than ANYONE in the franchise or on the field. Elway is very errogant, and will tear this franchise apart.
