San Francisco’s David Akers eked out a record-tying 63-yard field goal on Sunday in Green Bay prior to halftime.
A shrewd maneuver by 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh right before halftime put Akers in position for the field goal that gave San Francisco a 16-7 lead over the Packers.
Starting quarterback Alex Smith was sent to the bench in favor of the more mobile Colin Kaepernick. The 49ers’ backup scampered 17 yards to the GB 45.
That set the table for Akers’s kick, which bounced off the crossbar before tumbling over.
Akers’s face after the kick says it all.
Meanwhile, Eagles fans gnash their teeth.
