The Eagles Fire Juan Castillo; Hire Todd Bowles As New Defensive Coordinator

According to Comcast SportsNet’s Reuben Frank, the Eagles fired defensive coordinator Juan Castillo on Tuesday.

The firing comes on the heels of the Eagles blowing a 23-13 lead against the Lions on Sunday with just over three minutes left.

The 3-3 Eagles appointed Todd Bowles, the team’s secondary coach, as their new defensive coordinator.

Philly’s defense wildly underachieved with the inexperienced Castillo as its defensive coordinator since 2011.

Since that period, the Eagles are only 11-11.

This move is a clear sign that Andy Reid’s time as head coach is in grave danger.

Philadelphia is on a bye week and will play the undefeated Atlanta Falcons in Week 8.
