Prior to Kansas Basketball melting down in Cowboys Stadium last night, the Internet was abuzz over the Dallas Cowboys and Tony Romo agreeing to a six-year deal worth $108 million, including $55 million guaranteed.
One gentlemen who took exception to the Romo deal was former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb.
The best part of McNabb’s Twitter reaction is his original tweet, which included incorrect financial totals.
McNabb seemed apoplectic at Romo’s extension over six years and worth $55 million
Nope Donovan, try again.
That’s more like it, Donovan.
That’s $55 MILLION GUARANTEED. Only Tom Brady, who is line to receive $57 million guaranteed based off of a deal signed last February, can claim to have to a larger guaranteed pull.
Romo, whose only lone playoff win came in January 2010 against McNabb’s Eagles, often puts up respectable regular season numbers but hasn’t been able to enjoy much postseason success.
His Cowboys own just three postseason appearances since Romo became a starter in 2006.
If Romo and one playoff win is worth $55 million guaranteed, what is a quarterback worth, who has five postseason wins, a Super Bowl win, Super Bowl MVP, and an NFL MVP?
I think Green Bay is about to find out rather soon.
