Fantasy Football Files: Sunday’s Heroes And Villains

Arizona Cardinals v New Orleans Saints

After the NFL’s passing outburst over the first two weeks of the season, defenses somewhat restored order.

It appeared Week 3 would mark the first time this season that no quarterback hit the 400-yard barrier. Yet, Ben Roethlisberger decided to mess up that statistical note by throwing for over 400 yards against the Bears on Sunday night.

Let’s take a look at five fantasy heroes and villains from Week 3 action.

HEROES:

PLAYER PERFORMANCE SKINNY
Drew Brees, QB, Saints 342 yards, 3 TDs, 1 TDR When Brees is scoring on foot, it’s a good day.
Geno Smith, QB, Jets 331 yards, 2 TDs The best performance of Smith’s young career.
DeMarco Murray, RB, Cowboys 175 yards rushing, TD Look ma, Dallas can run!
Bilal Powell, RB, Jets 149 yards rushing Only thing missing was a score.
Antonio Brown, WR, Steelers 196 yards receiving, 2 TDs Finally, something works out for Pittsburgh.

VILLAINS:

PLAYER PERFORMANCE SKINNY
Philip Rivers, QB, Chargers 184 yards, TD The most noticeable part of his performance was the game-ending kick ball.
Eli Manning, QB, Giants 119 yards, INT Brutal.
Arian Foster, RB, Texans 54 yards rushing Yup, he’s toast.
CJ Spiller, RB, Bills 9 yards A slow day on the ground was punctuated by a knee injury.
Roddy White, WR, Falcons 16 yards Just two catches for White on Sunday in Miami.

Week 3 concludes with a Monday night AFC West battle between Denver and Oakland.
