NBC Joins Thursday Night Football Coverage

BillsJetsColor

Coming off of its highest-rated Thursday night run ever (and with some competitive games for a change), the NFL will add another broadcast partner for Thursday Night Football coverage during the 2016 and 17 seasons.

The NFL announced on Monday that NBC will be jumping into the mix for Thursday Night Football starting this fall.

Beginning next season, NBC and CBS will each carry five Thursday Night Football contests. Meanwhile, the NFL Network will air eight games and simulcast all TNF games.

NFL Network’s coverage will include special edition games on Saturday night and other to be determined dates.

It would be great if NBC involved other broadcasters besides Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth. I love that duo but more games could potentially dilute their performance as it may have with some other folks we’ll hear from this Sunday.

Anyhow, this announcement arrives after TNF averaged 13 million viewers per week last season.

Whatever happens, please no more “Color Rush” games.

Please advise.
