Chiefs Erase 24-Point Deficit; Rip Texans 51-31 To Advance To AFC Title Game

The Houston Texans led the Kansas City Chiefs 24-0 in the first half of Sunday’s AFC Divisional playoff…and then the roof caved in on them.

Kansas City scored a touchdown on an NFL playoff record seven straight possessions to defeat the Texans 51-31 to advance back to the AFC Championship Game for the second straight season.

After falling into a 24-point hole, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw four touchdowns in the second quarter to give Kansas City a 28-24 lead at halftime. While Kansas City stormed back, they got plenty help from the Texans.

Leading 21-0 and driving again in Kansas City territory, the Texans had 4th and inches in the red zone but opted to kick a field goal. Then, after a Chiefs touchdown, Texans head coach Bill O’Brien called a fake punt from his end at the Houston 31. However, the Texans were stopped. From that point on, it was all Chiefs.

The Chiefs will host the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Championship Game next Sunday afternoon at 3:05 ET. Earlier this season, the Titans defeated the Chiefs 35-32 in Nashville back on November 10.
