Neither You Or An NFL Team Attended The Workout Of Terrell Owens

During his workout today in Calabasas, California, Terrell Owens sported a t-shirt that read “I AM” on the front and “READY” on the back. Unfortunately for Owens, perhaps no NFL team is ready for his services.

Only NFL Network and ESPN seemed to care about Owens showing off his recovery from a torn ACL suffered during the off-season. No representative from an NFL team was found at the Owens workout.

Remember, Owens is coming off of two significant leg injuries within the last year and a possible pill overdose that landed him in the hospital earlier this month.

Teams are what they are by Week 8.  Bringing in Owens to a young and struggling team like St. Louis; or a receiver-depleted team like Minnesota; or a potential division contender like Tennessee makes little sense. Much like Randy Moss, the risk far outweighs the reward for signing the 37-year-old Owens.

Even Owens arriving under the guise of being “a veteran who can produce and teach the youngsters” is a dramatic stretch.

Apparently, the NFL and its pass-happy ways are getting along just fine without Owens.

  1. I just think at this point teams don’t want to deal with the headache unless they absolutely have to. With all the passing numbers around the league, not many teams are starving for receiver help. I wouldn’t be shocked if nobody bites on him.

  2. His agent says it created a bunch of buzz and every team is interested in him. One scout that was there says his career is done. John Clayton said his legs weren’t there. I’m going to side with the people not looking to get 10% of T.O.’s next contract.
