Ex-Detroit Lions running back Barry Sanders was arguably one of the three best running backs to ever play the game.
However, he was stuck with one of the NFL’s worst franchises. The Lions normally torture us with poor play on Thanksgiving Day. Yet, in Sanders’s penultimate season as a Lion, he posted one of the great seasons in NFL history.
Sanders rushed for 2,053 yards and scored 14 times in his historic 2007 campaign.
The Bears were victimized by Sanders and the Lions on Turkey Day in ’97. At one point, Chicago led 17-3. Thanks to 167 yards and three touchdowns, Detroit won 55-20.
Barry Sanders was a bad man.
Barry’s former team takes on Houston today.
