As mentioned yesterday, the Philadelphia sports scene is approaching rock bottom status thanks to the decay of the Andy Reid regime; the Phillies sinking in quicksand (with an assist from Carlos Ruiz’s suspension); Andrew Bynum’s creaky knees; and the Revolutionary War likely to be re-enacted before the Flyers play in another game.
While I’m not really upset that B.J. Upton didn’t land in a Phillies jersey (he could have swung the ’08 World Series in Tampa’s favor but struggled mightily), it’s just another brick in the wall for an awful week in Philadelphia sports.
You know who isn’t awful this month? Silver Linings Playbook starring Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, and Robert DeNiro.
It’s a tremendous flick that centers around bipolar depression and the 2008 Eagles. I’d go into more detail but I don’t want to spoil it.
However, for those that want it spoiled, one of the film’s central storylines revolves around this game.
Anyhow, Jennifer Lawrence is amazing in it and I’m willing to nominate her as the new face of Philly sports.
Well, you have any better ideas at this moment in history?
I guess you can join along for the ride too Bradley.
I enjoyed your work in Wedding Crashers as Sack Lodge.
