Detroit Lions wide receiver (and Madden ’13 cover athlete) Calvin Johnson plastered his name all over the NFL record books on Saturday night during Detroit’s 31-18 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
Johnson broke Jerry Rice’s 17-year-old receiving yardage record (1,848 in 1995) after posting an 11-catch, 225-yard performance.
At 1,892 yards receiving on the season, Johnson needs only 108 yards to become the first receiver in NFL history to break the 2,000-yard barrier.
Megatron established another mark by reaching an eighth consecutive game with at least 100 yards receiving.
Thankfully, Johnson’s performance means it’s likely time to once and for all put “the Madden Curse” narrative to rest.
