Andy Reid is not likely to receive gifts from those in Miami, Pittsburgh, and Baltimore anytime soon.
Prior to Sunday’s game against the 8-7 San Diego Chargers, who need to win today to keep their playoff hopes alive, Reid opted to deactivate seven starters including Jamaal Charles, Alex Smith, Dwayne Bowe, Tamba Hali, Derrick Johnson, Branden Albert, and Dontari Poe.
Essentially, the Chiefs are sitting their key guys to rest them since they can’t improve their playoff seeding. Kansas City is locked into the AFC’s fifth seed and will play next weekend.
The big issue is how this impacts the race for the AFC’s sixth and final playoff spot.
By indirectly laying down, the Chiefs open the door for the Chargers to reach the postseason.
San Diego will reach the postseason with a win while the Steelers need a loss by the Chargers to get in.
Good luck with that, Pittsburgh.
