If there is one team that drills professionalism into the heads of its players to borderline “Stepford Wives” levels, it’s the New York Yankees.
The latest example of this came during spring training, according to ESPN senior writer Andrew Marchand:
During the Yankees’ media training, the Super Bowl is being used to portray the right and wrong way to act. Part of a video shown to pitchers and catchers compares how Cam Newton handled his Super Bowl loss to the way Russell Wilson dealt with his defeat the previous year.
That’s a fair comparison. Russell Wilson pulled the trigger on the most polarizing play in Super Bowl and essentially, threw away a chance for his team to win the Super Bowl. He handled himself well…unlike Newton.
In essence, the Yankees are saying Cam Newton’s Super Bowl behavior = unprofessional. Meanwhile, Russell Wilson = the pro’s pro.
Leave the hooded sweatshirt at home next time, Cam.
