We interrupt divisional playoff week news with some off the field fare from someone who knows a thing or two about playoff football. Back when he was roaming the sidelines and huddles of the National Football League, this blog paid tribute (or something in the general neighborhood) to Tim Tebow and his at times disturbingly devout following. However, it’s time to reverse course after Thursday’s news.
Tebow’s engagement to 2017 Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters was announced on Thursday. While he was “meh” as an NFL quarterback, he is an A+ as a gentlemen as illustrated by how he popped the question to his soon to be wife including flying her family from South Africa to Florida.
For about five minutes, Tebow and Nel-Peters talked about their relationship and its future in hushed tones before Tebow, 31, dropped to one knee. “Demi Leigh Nel-Peters, I love you,” he said. “Demi Leigh Nel-Peters, will you marry me?”
As Nel-Peters said yes, Tebow slipped a 7.25-carat solitaire ring on her finger. “This ring is internally flawless,” he said. “Just like you.”
I don’t care how much coin someone has in their bank account. Flying someone’s family from South Africa to Florida and dropping the flawless ring line is a sign of true love. Good luck to those crazy kids.
