The big news on Wednesday in the NFL was not an injury, some random analytics breakdown, or the usual deep-dive on the week’s latest All-22 film. Instead, it was what New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was wearing during his press conference on Wednesday morning.
Belichick, who has never been confused with someone who will be wearing the latest fashion trends in Paris, trotted out an all-time look during Wednesday’s presser.
The six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach wore a sweatshirt with not just one hole but multiple holes in it around the neckline. It was….something.
The insightful Patriots blog Pats Propaganda does a masterful job outlining Belichick’s fashion choices. The blog deducted that was the same sweatshirt look (or maybe even the same sweatshirt) that Belichick wore during the 2013 season and again in Super Bowl LII against the Philadelphia Eagles.
As you’d imagine, the internet did not respond well to Belichick’s look:
I’m not going to shame Belichick for doing this. How many articles of clothing have we held onto that we love or in this case maybe hate? You will just wear it until the holes show up.
My conspiracy theory is Belichick’s dog Nike got into the shirt. It’s evident Nike is trying to become Belichick’s successor in New England.
Outside of Belichick getting mugged or a giant moth eating his sweatshirt, there’s no other logical explanation for those holes.
Nonetheless, kings will be kings.
