Don’t Worry Philadelphia, It’ll Get Better

I wasn’t going to post this picture but after seeing the cover of today’s Philadelphia Daily News, at this point the wound is already open; might as keep dumping the salt in to add to the pain.

Anyhow Philadelphians, while the Phillies are another day closer to receiving the first-ever MLB sanctioned AARP card unless they get a bit younger offensively; and the Eagles have won as many games as the Philadelphia 76ers since September 12, this picture will make you feel better:

The above pic was taken during the 1980 NFC title game between Dallas and Philadelphia at Veterans Stadium.

In case you’re wondering, the game time temperature was a brisk 12 degrees, with a wind chill factor of -3 degrees.

Closer examination shows something else standing out besides the dude wearing a pair of jorts:

That is a bottle of whiskey or some other hard liquor. It is rather clear that security was a bit loose back in the 1980s.

Anyhow, Philly won the game 20-7 and advanced to Super Bowl XV.

To the young sports fans, this past weekend in Philadelphia is a timeless lesson. When your team is good (or is allegedly good), the pain is greater when the season ends without a championship.
