After San Francisco upset previously unbeaten Detroit 25-19 at Ford Field on Sunday, a post-game handshake turned into a scrum once Lions head coach Jim Schwartz disapproved of Jim Harbaugh’s celebration.
Harbaugh put a little too much hot sauce on the handshake and as a result, the emotive Schwartz decided to take action. He flagged down Harbaugh and got in his face prior to players breaking up the skirmish.
During his post-game presser, Harbaugh told the media that he shook Schwartz’s hand with extra authority but would not apologize for it:
I was really revved up. That was on me a little, too hard a handshake there. I do get emotional, I do get fired up. A lot. I not going to apologize for that. If that offends you or anybody else, so be it.
This slightly takes away from the game’s central storyline; San Francisco went into Detroit and came away with a victory.
Incredibly, San Francisco has the second best record in the NFC.
Hopefully, round two of Harbaugh-Schwartz occurs in the playoffs. I’m all in after today’s fiasco.
