One week after dealing with Rex Ryan and his New York Jets, the New England Patriots welcome Rex’s equally boisterous sibling to Foxborough, Massachusetts when the Cowboys pay a visit on Sunday.
Rob Ryan, the Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator, has the distinction of being the last defensive coordinator to hold New England under 30 points during a regular season game.
While he was Cleveland’s defensive coordinator last season, the Browns drubbed New England 34-14 last November. Cleveland’s defense held New England to just 283 yards of total offense in the impressive victory.
Last year’s triumph did not prevent Ryan from pouring on heavy praise in the direction of Tom Brady & Bill Belichick on Friday:

While these statements may be an attempt aiming to motivate the Dallas defense, Ryan’s statements offer considerable merit.
Even though Brady’s last postseason win came in January 2008, one could easily craft an argument suggesting that he is the greatest quarterback of all-time.
Meanwhile, Belichick is 1-0 versus Bill Parcells as a head coach; as Giants defensive coordinator was 3-1 in four non-strike season meetings with Bill Walsh’s 49ers; and of course, BB never cut his teeth against the legendary Vince Lombardi.
I love when coaches do this.
It’s a mechanism to set themselves up for success. If victory arrives, the coach appears to be a massive hero for slaying the almighty Brady and Belichick; a loss simply stands as just another Sunday some defensive coordinator fell at the hands of the mighty duo.
Nicely played Rob.
