Former St. Louis Ram and Dallas Cowboy Michael Sam announced Friday on Twitter that he was “stepping away” from football.
However, the Missouri Tiger cited his mental health as a primary reason for the decision to get out of football.
This marks the second time Sam opted to leave Montreal. Back in June, Sam left the team for personal reasons and then returned to the team two weeks later.
Sam, who most recently played with the Canadian Football League’s Montreal Alouettes, made waves last year by becoming the first openly gay player in the NFL.
After failed stops in St. Louis and Dallas and now with Montreal in the CFL, this may very well be the end of line for Sam.
