49ers. Saints. Rematch. Let’s go get it!
BEARS 20, VIKINGS 7: Jay Cutler is back and not a moment too soon for the Bears. Last season, Chicago saw their playoff hopes submarined by a Cutler injury. He is back from a concussion to take on Christian Ponder and the Vikings, who will be without ace wide receiver Percy Harvin. For the sake of Vikings fans, hopefully Ponder is ready to roll after a strenuous bye week.
SAINTS 24, 49ERS 23: It’s a rematch of one of the great NFL playoff games of all-time when the 49ers visit New Orleans. It took a bit but the Saints are back in the playoff mix. I don’t think the Saints are a better team than the 49ers but two things point against San Francisco. First, it’s a short week after an uplifting win over the Bears. Secondly, they are putting a novice quarterback on the road in a tricky spot against a team that can put up points. I’ll take the Saints in a tight one.
PACKERS 24, GIANTS 20: This is that point of the season when people panic over the Giants losing games at home and potentially not making the playoffs. Plus, this will setup the storyline for next week when the Giants visit the Redskins on Monday Night Football with the NFC East lead in peril. I’d like Green Bay a lot more if they ever showed any semblance of a run attack but I like them on the road at MetLife Stadium. Plus, the Jets put enough stink in that stadium on Thursday night to ruin it for the Giants.
